Don't Set Too Many Goals

  • Better to achieve 3 goals than make no progress on 10

Make Them Stretch Goals

  • Should feel slightly uncomfortable (60-70% confidence you'll hit them)

  • If you're 100% sure you'll achieve it, aim higher

  • But not so high that they're demotivating

Review Regularly

  • Weekly: Quick check-in, update values

  • Monthly: Deep review, adjust strategy

  • Quarterly: Set new goals, retire completed ones

  • Don't set goals you can't measure

  • Automate tracking where possible (e.g., Revenue pulls from Dashboard)

Document Progress

  • Add notes when updating ("Launched new ad campaign, boosting traffic")

Adjust When Needed

  • Every goal should ladder up to business strategy

  • If a goal doesn't align with mission, don't set it
